Regenerative alignment

If the machinery that produces alignment is damaged, can the system rebuild it?

Restoring a desired state is one achievement. Restoring the capacity to detect error, coordinate parts, and produce aligned behavior again is a stronger one.

The critical distinction

Restoring the outcome is not the same as restoring the alignment machinery.

Suppose a system is pushed away from its target and successfully returns. That shows correction.

But imagine that the disturbance also damages the signaling, monitoring, memory, organizational structure, or local competencies that make correction possible. If the system can reconstruct those conditions too, something stronger has happened.

That is the idea behind regenerative alignment.

Distinguish from

Restore the state

Detect a deviation and move the system back toward the desired condition.

Think about

Restore the capacity

Rebuild the organization that makes future detection, correction, and coordinated activity possible.

Important caution

Regrowth is not enough

A system can regenerate a form using intact alignment machinery. That does not by itself show that the alignment machinery was regenerated.

A question to carry elsewhere

Did the system merely repair the result, or did it repair its ability to repair?
